What a kitchen remodel costs in Columbus right now
Three real ranges from our last twenty kitchens, and the four choices that move the number most.

Most people call us with a number from a TV show or a website from another state. Here’s what our last twenty kitchens actually cost, in three groups.
A refresh: $18,000 to $35,000
The cabinet boxes stay. We paint or reface them, put on new hardware, and replace the counters, sink, faucet and backsplash. Two to three weeks, and you keep using the kitchen for most of it.
A full remodel, same layout: $38,000 to $65,000
New cabinets, counters, tile, lighting and usually flooring. The sink, range and fridge stay roughly where they are, so plumbing and gas don’t move far. This is most of the kitchens we do.
A new layout: $60,000 to $95,000
A wall comes out, the sink moves to an island, or the kitchen grows into the dining room. Now there’s a beam, more electric, permits for structure and more drywall.
What moves the number
- Cabinets. Semi-custom cabinets are about a third of the total. Stock lines cost less and take less time to arrive.
- Moving the sink or range. Every foot of new plumbing or gas line adds labor and an inspection.
- Counters. Quartz and granite cost about the same. Marble costs more and needs more care.
- Walls. Opening a load-bearing wall usually adds $6,000 to $12,000 with the beam and the engineer.
If you want a real number, we’ll come out, measure and write it down line by line. It costs nothing, and you keep the quote either way.
